Hey guys,

I know it won't be easy, but I'm completely serious about it: I want a Rampage.

Not any Rampage, I working one. One of these famous Spectre cards in A1 revision that are said to be running. I've already asked Gary, but I can understand if he's not willing to sell his legend. Unfortunately I can understand anyone doing this. Your all are fans and collectors, it won't be easy at all.

I have a simple but "mighty" purpose in mind: testing this card. Since I'm editor at a quite big magazine and 3dfx fan for many years, I want to tell the world about this myth. The "goddess" V5 6000 is through, we know about the quality of this legend, but Rampage/Spectre still is a mystery. I just want to run some benchmarks and at least one DX8 demo on it!

This may sound crazy, but: If nobody is willind to SELL, maybe someone can LEND his working sample? Are there any sources to get one of these cards? I repeat: This is no joke.

Greetings from Germany,
Raff

PS: If anyone owns a WORKING Daytona card - that's a bit easier - it could get my attention (and money) too.

Hi

First of all, everybody 3dfx collectors would like to own a Rampage card ....

Collecting these cards does not mean, that you need to stress them. Better to OWN a rare working card is MUCH
better than not working card. Silly stressing, modding or overclocking these cards is not in my opinion very wise option.

These cards are like jewels, nice to keep but not force them broken, so
I totally understand, why cards owners do NOT sell these cards.

Well, I'd be happy testing one of these cards, 'cause nobody ever did.

MfG,
Raff

Yes, because no one ever did that, means that nobody real collector would even think of doing that, with rear working card...

These cards are not toys, so if I would own a Rampage or Daytone card, I would ever NEVER push that card in the limit
because of danger of having a non working Daytona or Rampage card..

I respect your opinion. But unfortunately that doesn't help realizing the "evil" test. Very Happy

Raff

Hi

Evil test, with working Rampage and possible non working Rampage ? Very Happy

Yes, buing a new Nvidia's or Ati's are better choises of
tweaking and playing around than these cards...

AMD's and Nvidia's products are just graphcis cards. Rampage is a myth, a legend - a much higher goal for a test. Wink

Tests with these cards have been before and some time ago.
http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/articles/3dfx/rampage/
In any case there was only one dongle made to use these card properly so that narrows the changes even more.
Driver support would be another issue as it would be limited to one card and there are few people left developing drivers for the VSA100 series as it is but those have usefulness to wide range of products available a high quantities.

Good luck with your search,
G1nX

Raff is the only person I would give such a rare card. He is no silly overclocking-kid.
He knows what he is doing...even when he uses the words "evil testing".

Of course I can understand the other side but it's like an old beautiful car, which was build to drive but it's not allowed by the owner...

A working rampage is better than a dead. But if you do not use it...is the card still a working one?

I agree with you Chosen_One !
And if Raff can test and bench the card we could find out more about our voodoo Smile
I hope that he gets or borrow one !
